NEXT SOA BUSINESS MEETING IS FEBRUARY 24TH AT NORTH HIGH SCHOOL STARTING AT 7:00PM....HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE.

Recently, our association has been approached by some of the news media (cameramen/women) and asked for our help.  Some of these people have been in the arena's for basketball and wrestling.   They are fully aware of where and when they should be in specific areas taking those photos.  We dont really need to police those people. If they are in a position that could harm a player, please talk to the administration about the problem...Let the admistration handle these problems.  The media is no different than any other fan.  We should NOT confront these people. 

Basketball season is here.   Everyone should check your IHSAA and IGHSAU web sites frequently for updates.  The state is doing a great job of getting information to us via these sites. Any playoff assignments will probably come thru through these sites.  The IGHSAU has set up "foot lockers" for officials to set up so they can correspond directly with you.  I hope everyone has set up their personal "foot locker". 

NOW, FOR A NOTE TO THE NEW OFFICIALS:  PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR BASKETBALL SCHEDULES.  IF YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED A VARSITY CONTEST TO OFFICIATE,  YOU MOST LIKELY SHOULD TURN THAT CONTRACT BACK TO DAVE SCHIPPER ASAP.  PLEASE WORK THOSE UNDER VARSITY CONTESTS REGULARLY AND WORK YOUR WAY UP TO VARSITY.  YOU WILL NOT BE DOING YOURSELF OR THE SCHOOL JUSTICE IF YOU TRY TO JUMP RIGHT IN TO THE VARSITY LEVEL.  YOU ALSO NEED TO LOOK AT YOUR 3-MAN MECHANICS.  IF YOU HAVE NOT ATTENDED A CLINIC, YOU WILL NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING THE SYSTEM.
